At BS2025, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access & Belonging (DEIAB) that celebrates the unique perspectives, backgrounds, and talents of all individuals within our community.
By embracing diversity, equity, inclusion, access & belonging, we will not only enrich our congress experience but also strengthen our collective impact in advancing the field of building performance simulation. Equality, diversity & Inclusion at the conference
We recognise the diversity and different needs in our community, we include the following various ED&I (equality, diversity and inclusion) initiatives to contribute toward a welcoming conference experience.
- Delegates are able to nominate their preferred pronouns, communication preferences at the conference and sharing their accessibility needs and other needs at registration
- Virtual attendance for the main conference room has been provided for those that cannot attend the conference in person
- Our conference acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Turrbal and Jagera peoples, and the conference will be opened with an acknowledgement of country to pay our respects to the Elders past and present and recognise their enduring contribution to the culture and spirit of the land.
- The food options provided are thoughtfully curated to meet the diverse dietary needs of our guests
- The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is fully accessible, it is wheelchair accessible, allows for service animals and equipped other accessibility facilities such as accessible parking, hearing loops in rooms and accessible toilets.
- A breakfast session geared towards equality, diversity and inclusion engagement will be hosted by the ED&I committee of IBPSA. The breakfast is a paid event and all are welcomed – bookings can be made here: https://bs2025.org/activity/sunrise-social-breakfast/
- The conference includes the official launch of the IBPSA Women’s Network.
Services and amenities at the conference
To provide a smooth and stress-free experience to our delegates, the conference venue has provided the following services and amenities:
- Parent Rooms are located on Merivale Street Main Foyer, behind Merivales Cafe and on Grey Street Main Foyer behind the Information Desk. Change tables are also provided in all of the uni-sex accessible toilets throughout the Centre
- Cloak room facilities are provided at the conference centre information desks (in the Grey Street and Merivale foyers), for luggage, bags, prams and coats
- Wheelchairs are available for loan from the Information Desks for patrons attending events.
- All accessible toilets have hand basins and are fitted with handrails with a monitored emergency duress system installed.
- Drinking fountains are available in the conference foyers and concourse areas
- Hearing loops are installed in all meeting rooms, and larger rooms (e.g., Plaza Terrace Room) are fitted with loops in required areas and are activated on request
- Complimentary WiFi at the conference venue
- COVID plan in place for the conference venue
