Veronica Garcia

Associate Professor Veronica Garcia-Hansen is world-leading researcher in responsive Lighting and Architecture design for human needs. With over 95 publications in this area, $1.6M external funding, and 17 PhD completions, she leads research on the effect of the physical environment (lighting, indoor quality) on human health and well-being, and the implications for energy and sustainability.

She leads the Human-building interaction group in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at QUT. Her track record demonstrates international recognition for her outstanding research (WiSTEM2D, Johnson & Johnson 2020 Scholar award), leadership in research with industry and end users (Engineering and Architectural companies, hospitals, and aged care) that is shaping the way we design for the built environment, translation of research, and leadership in research training.

A/Prof. Garcia-Hansen is the Australian representative for the current IEA SHC task 70 Low Carbon, High Comfort Integrated Lighting.
