Accurate assessment of a building’s U-value is crucial for optimizing energy retrofits. However, conventional methods, (e.g., Heat Flow Meter and Infrared Thermography) strict requirements that limit their practicality. This study develops a correction model for U-value calculations by incorporating solar radiation effects using sensitivity analysis and dynamic building energy simulations. Validation using real-world data from an educational building in South Korea show that the proposed model significantly improves accuracy, reducing error rates from 83% to 17% (south-facing walls) and 92% to 14% (north-facing walls). These findings contribute to more reliable thermal performance assessments, enabling large-scale building energy retrofits.
